ALFED's Trade Committee has published a briefing on reindustrialising UK aluminium. It says the sector supports 104,800 FTE jobs and £8.18bn in GVA, and argues that existing capability is a foundation for growth. The main ask is that Government stops treating trade, carbon and industrial policy as separate silos, especially with CBAM coming into play. Aluminium is now listed as a critical mineral in UK policy, so decisions on tariffs, trade remedies and market access can shift supply chains quickly. ALFED plans to follow this briefing with a full white paper after its 24 September business briefing.
