Alfa Laval to Supply Heat Recovery Equipment for Stockholm Exergi BECCS Carbon Capture Project
carbonherald.comAlfa Laval has been picked by Saipem to supply heat exchangers for Stockholm Exergi's BECCS project in Sweden. The plant, based at a biomass combined heat and power site, aims to capture, liquefy, and store up to 800,000 tonnes of biogenic CO2 per year when it starts up in 2028. The equipment includes Ziepack gas-gas interchangers and plate-and-frame heat exchangers. The point is to recover heat from the capture process and feed it into Stockholm's district heating network. That cuts the energy penalty that usually makes carbon capture expensive. Stockholm Exergi has already sold carbon removal credits to the City of Stockholm, so the project has a revenue stream tied to actual removals. The Alfa Laval deal is one more sign the project is moving from announcement to procurement.
