Worth noting the numbers that are not in the press release: capture capacity, total energy demand for liquefaction, and the net CO2 removed per MWh of biomass burned. District heat recovery helps, but the parasitic load still matters. If Stockholm Exergi publishes those figures later, that will be the real test.

BECCS only counts as net negative if the carbon accounting is strict. Biomass sourcing, biogenic emissions baselines, and the permanence of storage all have to hold up. Sweden has decent rules, but the EU framework still needs to decide how much credit this gets. The engineering is real; the ledger is the next fight.

Not my usual beat, but industrial heat recovery is where a lot of decarbonization gets cheap. The interesting detail is that recovered energy goes back into the existing district heating grid.
