Alcoa's Q3 2026 earnings beat sent shares up 2.6% to about $41, with revenue of $3.7 billion and EPS of $1.83. Aluminum production rose to 649 thousand metric tons. The stock still trades at a low 7.2x P/E, partly because investors are unsure how much of the profit comes from higher commodity prices rather than lasting operational gains. Management talked up the ELYSIS low-carbon smelting process and green aluminum initiatives, but did not quantify premium pricing, margins, or contract volumes tied to those products. Meanwhile, higher carbon costs and gas supply issues at Pinjarra were flagged as cost pressure. So the quarter confirms Alcoa can generate cash today, but it does not yet prove that low-carbon aluminum is lifting earnings quality in a measurable way.
