Alberta West Coast Pipeline Timeline and Carbon Capture Link

Alberta and the federal government have reached an agreement to increase the carbon price to 130 dollars per tonne by 2040. This deal is a prerequisite for a proposed West Coast oil pipeline, which the province hopes to start constructing by September 2027. However, CIBC analysts warn that this timeline is a best case scenario. The project still requires a funding agreement for the Pathways carbon capture initiative, consultations with Indigenous groups, and negotiations with British Columbia.
