Aisan Industry Kentucky is now using Celanese POM ECO-C, a polyacetal resin made from captured CO2, to produce fuel pump modules for a North American automaker. The material is a drop in replacement that requires no changes to existing designs or production lines while reducing the product carbon footprint. Celanese uses carbon capture and utilization to turn waste CO2 into chemical building blocks for the polymer. Delrin also offers carbon capture based polyacetal grades, including Delrin CC with up to 60% lower cradle to gate PCF and Delrin ZA with a 100% reduction reaching 0.0 PCF. The move shows that captured carbon materials are moving from pilot scale into actual automotive supply chains without sacrificing performance or adding retooling costs.
