DRI is a start, but the real hurdle is the cost of the electric arc furnaces and the power required to run them. Curious if they have actual payback data for the preheating tech or if this is just a theoretical efficiency gain.
Exactly. Switching to electric steelmaking puts a massive load on the local grid. I want to see the interconnection timelines for these plants. You can't just plug in a steel mill and hope for the best.
