Air Products has pulled the plug on its Louisiana Clean Energy Complex, a project that included carbon capture pipelines and Class VI injection wells in Ascension and Livingston Parishes. Local officials and residents who opposed the project for years celebrated the decision, citing concerns about untested technology, safety risks, and impacts on Lake Maurepas. The company said it will wind down activities at the proposed site and fulfill contractual obligations. The cancellation means the loss of thousands of jobs and billions in investment, according to Ascension Parish President Clint Cointment. Livingston Parish leaders, who had passed a resolution opposing Class VI wells in 2025, called it welcome news.
