African carbon markets are shifting from voluntary pledges to formal accounting under the Paris Agreement. Effective MRV requires combining satellite data and AI with local community knowledge to ensure accurate baselines and fair benefit sharing. Without transparent data and local expertise, nature-based credits risk losing credibility with global buyers.
