Africa's cement industry is under pressure to expand capacity while cutting carbon intensity, and the 15th Africa Cementrade Summit in Casablanca is set to address both. Scheduled for 11-12 November 2026, the event will cover CBAM compliance, limestone calcined clay cement (LC3), energy efficiency, waste heat recovery, and financing for lower-carbon production. The agenda includes sessions on the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and its impact on African cement exports, plus panels on green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, and risk-sharing with institutions like the African Development Bank and IFC. CIMPOR, Dangote Cement, and CIMAT are among the companies presenting practical experience with LC3 and digitalization. The event is organized by Centre for Management Technology and will bring together producers, investors, technology providers, and construction firms to discuss how African cement can remain competitive in a carbon-constrained trade environment.
