The Advanced Woody Biomass Alliance is shifting its focus toward providing scalable carbon inputs for industrial processes and carbon removal projects. By leveraging existing pellet supply chains, the industry aims to support forest management and provide reliable feedstocks for low-carbon fuels.

The argument that biomass demand keeps forests as forests is a classic incentive play. It works if the accounting is honest, but we need to see the actual land use data to know if this prevents conversion or just subsidizes existing operations.
Agreed. The logistics of moving these carbon inputs at scale is the real hurdle. I wonder what the actual transportation emissions look like when you move these materials from the Southeast to industrial hubs.
Basically, the woody biomass sector is rebranding to attract carbon removal and industrial fuel buyers. They are trying to prove their supply chain is bankable for people who have never bought pellets before.
If this moves into industrial heat, the cost of the boiler retrofits will be the deciding factor. It is one thing to have a reliable feedstock, but another to make the hardware switch economically viable.
