ADM enters voluntary carbon removal market with Puro.earth-certified CCS credits from Nebraska ethanol plant
feedstuffs.comADM is moving into the voluntary carbon removal market by selling credits from the carbon capture and storage operation at its Columbus, Nebraska corn processing complex. The facility captures biogenic CO2 from ethanol fermentation and injects it at Tallgrass's Wyoming sequestration hub. Puro.earth is certifying the credits under its Geologically Stored Carbon methodology, with first issuance expected before the end of 2026. At over 800,000 tons of CO2 per year, this would be one of the larger engineered removal projects to reach the voluntary market. ADM plans a 15-year crediting period and says it already has buyers in its value chain. The project builds on ADM's existing Class VI well experience at Decatur, Illinois.
