ADM enters carbon credit market with Puro.earth for Nebraska plant, 800k tons CO2 removal per year
agnavigator.comADM has announced plans to sell carbon removal credits from its Columbus, Nebraska corn processing facility, which can capture over 800,000 tons of CO2 per year. The company is working with Puro.earth to certify the credits under its Geologically Stored Carbon methodology, with initial credits expected by the end of the year and a 15-year crediting period. The project builds on ADM's partnership with Tallgrass Energy, which stores biogenic CO2 from ethanol fermentation at its Eastern Wyoming Sequestration Hub. ADM also operates Class VI wells at its Decatur, Illinois facility, giving it experience in carbon capture and storage. The company's recent regenerative agriculture report showed a reduction of nearly one million metric tons of CO2 in 2025. This move signals a growing trend of industrial emitters monetizing verified carbon removal. Puro.earth's certification adds credibility, and the scale of ADM's project could set a benchmark for similar agricultural processing facilities.
