ADM and Puro.earth Partner to Sell Carbon Removal Credits from Nebraska Bioethanol CCS Facility
gasworld.comADM has partnered with Puro.earth to issue carbon dioxide removal credits from its 800,000-tonne-per-year carbon capture and storage facility at its corn processing plant in Columbus, Nebraska. The facility, which launched in November 2025, captures biogenic CO2 from ethanol fermentation, then transports it via Tallgrass's Trailblazer pipeline to a sequestration hub in Wyoming. Initial credits are expected by year-end after audit, with a 15-year crediting period for buyers in tech, finance, aviation, and pharmaceuticals. ADM already operates Class VI wells in Decatur, Illinois, giving it nearly a decade of experience in geological sequestration. The Columbus facility is claimed to be the largest bioethanol carbon capture site globally. The move signals that large agricultural processors are starting to monetize carbon removal, though the market's pricing and verification standards are still evolving.
