Aderco 2055G+ program links fuel treatment to verified carbon credits for shipping emissions reduction
naftikachronika.grAderco launched 2055G+, a program that connects fuel additive technology with verified emissions data and Gold Standard carbon credits for ships running on conventional marine fuels. The program aims to help ship owners meet IMO CII and EU ETS requirements while generating revenue from verified cuts. Over 100 ships have enrolled, with fuel savings of 2% to 5% reported, including class-society verified results of 4.84% on a reefer and 3.25% on a capesize vessel. The 2055G+ solution uses Aderco's 2055G fuel additive, a vegetal organic, ashless, metal-free treatment that improves combustion efficiency and reduces emissions. Ships establish a baseline and then run the additive for at least six months, with continuous monitoring to produce auditable data. Verified emissions reductions can then be turned into Voluntary Carbon Credits through Gold Standard, creating a financial return for operators. This approach addresses a key challenge in maritime decarbonization: proving that emissions claims are real. By linking fuel treatment, third-party verification, and certified carbon credits, 2055G+ offers a structured pathway for the shipping industry to cut emissions and monetize those cuts while navigating tightening regulations.
