Adaptavate, a Bristol-based startup, has raised £4 million to commercialize its carbon-storing wallboard technology. The funding combines equity from investors like Low Carbon Innovation Fund 3 with grants from the European Innovation Council and Innovate UK. The company aims to help wallboard manufacturers adopt carbon-storing production methods without overhauling their existing plants, focusing on licensing and international partnerships rather than building its own factories. Adaptavate has already run pilot deployments with Legal & General and Oxygen Asset Management, and is expanding in Asian markets. The round includes a second close open until end of 2026 targeting an additional £1.3 million. This funding signals growing confidence in technologies that make low-carbon materials cost-effective enough for mainstream adoption.
