The first step is a pilot plant that will produce formic acid using captured carbon dioxide and renewable electricity. Formic acid is used in textiles, agriculture, and manufacturing. If the pilot works, the companies plan to scale up to commercial production and eventually expand into a broader portfolio of low-carbon chemicals.
