Adani Enterprises and Dioxycle partner to produce low-carbon chemicals in India with pilot formic acid plant using captured CO2 and renewable energy

Adani Enterprises has partnered with French clean-tech firm Dioxycle to manufacture low-carbon chemicals in India. The first project is a pilot plant that will produce formic acid using renewable energy and captured carbon dioxide. Formic acid is used across textiles, agriculture, leather, and manufacturing, and its traditional production is carbon intensive. This partnership aims to show that converting captured CO2 into marketable industrial products can be commercially viable. The companies also plan to expand into other low-emissions chemicals, which could help multiple sectors cut their carbon footprint while staying competitive. For India, this is a notable step. The chemicals sector is a major source of both GDP and emissions. Pairing carbon capture with clean energy to make a useful chemical like formic acid could set a template for other industrial players. The pilot plant is the first test, but the long term goal is full commercial scale. If it works, it could push more Indian manufacturers to invest in carbon capture and utilization. The partnership also shows how Indian conglomerates and international tech firms can work together on industrial decarbonization.
