Adani Enterprises and Dioxycle partner to produce low-carbon formic acid from captured CO2 in India

Adani Enterprises has partnered with French clean-tech firm Dioxycle to build India's first pilot facility for producing formic acid from captured carbon dioxide and renewable electricity. The project aims to turn CO2 emissions into a usable chemical for textiles, agriculture, and manufacturing, using clean energy instead of fossil feedstocks. If the pilot succeeds, the partners plan to scale up for commercial production and expand into other low-carbon chemicals. This partnership combines Adani's infrastructure and renewable energy capacity with Dioxycle's electrochemical technology. It also marks Adani's entry into the chemicals sector and supports India's Make in India goals. The project is a concrete example of carbon capture utilization, where emissions become a feedstock rather than waste. The key question is how quickly the pilot can scale and at what cost compared to conventional formic acid production.
