Adani Group has partnered with French startup Dioxycle to build India's first commercial plant that converts captured carbon dioxide into industrial chemicals. The facility will be located in Gujarat and aims to turn CO2 from industrial sources into products like ethylene, which is normally made from fossil fuels. This is a concrete step for carbon utilization in India, moving beyond storage into actual chemical production. The project combines Adani's industrial infrastructure with Dioxycle's electrolysis technology. If it scales, it could create a new revenue stream for captured carbon and reduce dependence on fossil feedstocks for chemical manufacturing. The key question is whether the economics work at commercial scale and how much CO2 the plant will actually process each year.
