Adani and Dioxycle partner to produce low-carbon formic acid in India using captured CO2 and renewable electricity

Adani Enterprises and French cleantech firm Dioxycle have announced a long-term partnership to develop low-carbon chemical production in India. The first phase involves a pilot facility at an Adani Group site that will produce formic acid from captured carbon dioxide and renewable electricity. Formic acid is widely used in textiles, agriculture, and manufacturing, so the project targets a real industrial demand while cutting emissions from chemical production. If the pilot succeeds, the partners plan to scale the technology for commercial manufacturing and explore a broader portfolio of low-carbon chemicals. The initiative combines Dioxycle's electrically driven chemical process with Adani's renewable energy and infrastructure capabilities. It also supports India's Make in India goals and the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision by building domestic capacity for sustainable chemical production. The project is a concrete example of using captured carbon as a feedstock rather than treating it as waste.
