Adani and Dioxycle Partner to Build Low-Carbon Chemical Plant in India Using Captured CO2 and Renewable Power

Adani Enterprises has partnered with French cleantech firm Dioxycle to build a pilot plant in India that produces formic acid from captured carbon dioxide and renewable electricity. The project, located at an Adani Group site, aims to demonstrate that industrial chemicals can be made without fossil fuel feedstocks. If the pilot succeeds, the partners plan to scale up for commercial production, targeting sectors like textiles, agriculture, and manufacturing that still rely on carbon-intensive supply chains. The partnership reflects growing India-Europe cooperation on clean technology and low-carbon supply chains. Dioxycle's process uses electricity and captured CO2 instead of fossil fuels, which could cut emissions from chemical manufacturing. Adani Group is expanding beyond its renewable energy and infrastructure businesses into low-carbon chemicals, signaling a broader shift in industrial strategy. The companies will also explore producing other industrial chemicals for energy, materials, and packaging sectors.
