Indian conglomerate Adani Enterprises has partnered with French startup Dioxycle to produce low-carbon formic acid using CO2 electrolysis. The pilot facility will be located at an Adani site in India and will use captured CO2 from industrial sources combined with renewable electricity to produce formic acid, a chemical used in textiles, agriculture, and manufacturing. Dioxycle plans to scale to standard commercial units producing 10,000 to 30,000 tonnes per year. The partnership supports India's Make in India and Viksit Bharat 2047 goals. India is the sixth largest chemicals producer globally, with the sector valued at around $250 billion. This project represents a concrete step toward decarbonizing industrial chemicals, though no timeline or pilot capacity has been disclosed yet.
