ACME and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical sign $1 billion green methanol supply deal

ACME Group and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical have signed a $1 billion agreement for the supply of green methanol. The deal is one of the larger offtake contracts in the alternative fuel space and signals growing commercial demand for low-carbon shipping and industrial feedstocks. Green methanol is produced from renewable hydrogen and captured CO2, and it can replace fossil methanol in chemical production or be used as a marine fuel. For the carbon markets and clean energy community, the size of this contract matters. A billion dollar offtake agreement means the buyer sees a viable path to scale. It also puts pressure on producers to deliver on the green hydrogen input at a competitive cost. The real test will be whether the production capacity and certification standards can keep up with the commercial commitment.
