ACI EUROPE expands airport sustainability strategy beyond decarbonisation to resilience, biodiversity and communities
internationalairportreview.comACI EUROPE has released its Sustainability Strategy for Airports 2.0, moving beyond decarbonisation to cover climate adaptation, biodiversity, circular economy, sustainable mobility, accessibility and community engagement. The framework, launched at a seminar in Tashkent, gives airports practical actions, KPIs and regulatory guidance across seven areas. The sector has made progress since the first strategy in 2019. ACI EUROPE says 328 European airports now have public net zero roadmaps, covering nearly 83% of passenger traffic, and 297 are certified under Airport Carbon Accreditation. More than 100 airports are targeting net zero by 2030 or earlier. The update also flags anti-greenwashing and reporting as part of the package. Separately, nine Uzbekistan Airports have been certified under Airport Carbon Accreditation, with Tashkent International Airport entering directly at Level 2.
