ABB invests in Gridcog digital platform to scale next-generation energy projects for microgrids and DERs
en.prnasia.comABB has made a strategic minority investment in Gridcog, a UK-based startup that provides a digital platform for modeling complex microgrids, distributed energy resources (DERs), and energy-as-a-service solutions. The platform helps utilities, independent power producers, and commercial and industrial customers design, compare, and validate energy projects with clear visibility on both financial performance and carbon impact. The partnership combines Gridcog's scenario modeling and simulation software with ABB's advisory and engineering services. This aims to accelerate the shift toward integrated, service-led energy solutions. Gridcog's platform supports rapid modeling across different geographies, energy markets, and asset types, helping customers build data-driven net-zero roadmaps. ABB Electrification Ventures led this funding round, joined by AXPO, DNV, and Verbund Ventures. ABB has invested over $110 million in 16 startups since 2021 through this venture arm. The financial terms of the Gridcog investment were not disclosed.
