ABB invests in Gridcog digital platform to accelerate renewable energy and microgrid modeling
tradingview.comABB has made a strategic minority investment in Gridcog, a UK-based startup that provides a digital platform for modeling complex energy systems. The platform helps design, compare, and validate microgrids, distributed energy resources, and energy-as-a-service projects with clear visibility on both financial performance and carbon impact. The partnership aims to help commercial and industrial customers move faster from concept to implementation. Gridcog's software enables rapid scenario modeling across different geographies, energy markets, and asset types. It quantifies carbon emissions impact alongside financial returns, supporting data-driven net-zero roadmaps. ABB's Electrification Ventures has now invested over $110 million in 16 startups since 2021, with this round joined by AXPO, DNV, and Verbund Ventures. The deal signals growing demand for tools that connect software, hardware, and services into integrated energy solutions.
