Aalborg Portland has signed an agreement with the Danish Energy Agency for a carbon capture subsidy of around 117 euros per ton of CO2 captured. The ACCSION project aims to capture up to 1.25 million tons of CO2 per year starting in 2030. The subsidy is worth up to 146 million euros annually over 15 years, totaling about 2.2 billion euros indexed to inflation. The project is a full-chain CCS effort covering capture, transport, and onshore storage. It is expected to deliver nearly half of Denmark's target of capturing 2.3 million tons of CO2 annually.
