National Highways will close the westbound slip road at the North Cave Interchange on the A63 in East Yorkshire for five weeks starting 10 August. The work replaces existing roadside lighting with LED units, which use less power, produce lower carbon emissions, and last longer, reducing future maintenance needs. Closures run weekdays from 20:00 to 06:00, with diversions via junction 37 (Howden). The LED upgrade is a small but concrete step toward cutting emissions from road infrastructure. While the closures may cause short-term delays, the energy savings and reduced maintenance burden are long-term wins. This is the kind of incremental efficiency project that adds up across the national road network.
