81% of Climate Leaders See Carbon Credits as Essential for Net Zero: CIP Survey
sustainabilitymag.comA new survey from Climate Impact Partners (CIP) finds that 81% of corporate climate decision-makers consider carbon credits essential for reaching net zero targets. Based on responses from 600 senior executives in the UK and US, the report also shows strong confidence in credit quality and business value, with 90% of buyers saying credits delivered on their goals over the past year. However, only 22% feel confident talking publicly about their purchases, and 69% have scaled back communications due to media scrutiny. The survey highlights a growing preference for high-integrity credits, as 84% of buyers now prioritize quality over price. It also points to a communications gap that could slow market growth. To address this, 94% of decision-makers want clear, credible product-level claims backed by independent verification. The report suggests that vocal leadership and verified action are key to bringing more companies into the voluntary carbon market.
