National Grid is considering burying an 800m overhead power line near Rhossili Bay in Gower, a designated national landscape. The proposal, put forward by the local landscape advisory group, aims to improve views along the Wales Coast Path and reduce storm-related outages. The £130,000 cost would be paid by National Grid, but final approval and planning consents are still needed. This small project is part of a larger £3.2bn plan to upgrade and maintain Wales's electricity network through 2031. Wales has targets for 100% renewable electricity by 2035 and net zero by 2050, but grid infrastructure in Mid Wales is limited.
