A new poll from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation shows 72% of Saskatchewan residents support the provincial government's decision to eliminate the industrial carbon tax. The tax was set to zero in April 2025, making Saskatchewan the only carbon tax-free province in Canada. Support is strong across the board, with 52% strongly in favor and 20% somewhat in favor. The poll comes as Prime Minister Mark Carney pushes provinces to maintain industrial carbon pricing. Alberta recently agreed to hike its carbon tax six and a half times by 2040. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has signaled openness to renegotiating with the federal government, but the CTF urges him to keep the tax at zero to avoid higher costs for families and businesses.
