3D Printed Low-Carbon Concrete Used for Teesside Carbon Capture Project

The Northern Endurance Partnership is implementing 3D printed concrete sleepers to support 1.3km of CO2 pipelines in Teesside. This robotic manufacturing approach reduces concrete and steel use by 40 percent and cuts carbon emissions by up to 50 percent compared to traditional methods. Produced by Hyperion Robotics, these high-strength components are 60 percent lighter than standard sleepers while offering increased durability. The project demonstrates how advanced manufacturing can lower the embodied carbon of critical climate infrastructure.
