Costain and A E Yates are using Hyperion Robotics to produce 3D printed concrete sleepers for the East Coast Cluster carbon capture project in Teesside. This method eliminates traditional formwork and allows for precise, repeatable production of pipe support bases. The robotic manufacturing process reduces concrete and steel usage by 40% and cuts carbon emissions by up to 50% compared to precast solutions. These supports are lighter and stronger than traditional structures, enabling faster installation for the onshore CO2 gathering system.
