They are among 16 teams chosen from 660 applicants across 54 countries to share nearly $30 million in catalytic funding. The Flux win is interesting. Tailored support for MRV and credit procurement suggests Tencent is thinking about the verification bottleneck. Without solid MRV, carbon credits are just paper. That is where a lot of projects fall apart.

Cella and Octavia both working on CDR in Kenya. Anyone know what their capture costs per ton look like at pilot scale? The article does not mention it, and that is the number that decides whether this scales or stays a demo.

Tencent also cut their own Scope 1 and 2 by 2.4M tCO2e and hit 83% renewables at data centers. That is a decent track record. Makes the CarbonX program feel less like greenwashing and more like a real attempt to fund what works.
