2026 Green Building Engineering Program Brings Together International Experts in Beijing
globaltimes.cnThe 2026 Engineering Capacity Building Program on Green Building was held in Beijing from September 13 to 18, drawing 60 professional construction engineers from China, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Hosted by the Chinese Society of Engineers, the program centered on the theme 'Green Engineering, Low-Carbon Cities' and covered topics such as low-carbon transition in the building sector, nearly zero-energy buildings, and renovation of existing structures. Participants attended technical sessions, visited benchmark enterprises, and engaged in case workshops to exchange best practices and explore mutual recognition of engineering qualifications. The program featured keynote speeches from experts like He Kebin, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who discussed pathways for decarbonizing the building sector under China's Dual Carbon goals. International attendees shared local green building case studies, and sessions highlighted the integration of passive design, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and digital tools like AI and IoT. The initiative aims to foster international collaboration, standardize professional qualifications, and promote the global adoption of Chinese green building standards, potentially accelerating low-carbon construction across Asia and beyond.
