Tsinghua University Press has announced the recipients of the 2026 Carbon Future Young Investigator Award. The honor recognizes PhD students and postdoctoral researchers making significant strides in carbon materials, catalysis, and low-carbon energy engineering. Ten primary awardees and 30 honorable mentions were selected from over one hundred global nominations. The winners, representing institutions from the US, Germany, China, and beyond, will be recognized at the Carbon Future 2026 conference in Ordos, China.

The research is fine, but I wonder how much of this catalysis work actually scales to industrial levels. Lab success is one thing, but the deployment timeline for new materials is usually decades.

Curious if any of these researchers are looking at industrial heat specifically. We have plenty of theory on carbon materials, but we need practical ways to swap out old boilers in factories.
