£200m carbon capture retrofit at Parc Adfer recommended for approval by Flintshire planners
deeside.comFlintshire County Council planners have recommended approval for a £200m carbon capture retrofit at Enfinium's Parc Adfer waste-to-energy plant in Connah's Quay. The project would add post-combustion capture to the existing facility and remove around 241,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, roughly 95% of the plant's carbon emissions. Captured CO2 would feed into the Hynet pipeline and be stored offshore in spent gas wells under the Irish Sea. The planning report says the development would make a substantial contribution to Wales's statutory decarbonisation targets. Officers have recommended a condition that the plant close by December 31, 2050 and the land be restored. The application also creates eight jobs. Flintshire's planning committee is due to make the final decision on October 7.
