Occidental Petroleum subsidiary 1PointFive has reported a non-process component issue at its Stratos direct air capture facility in Texas. While the core air contactors and processing units performed as expected during commissioning, this technical glitch is impacting the overall start-up timeline. The facility aims to capture 500,000 tonnes of CO2 annually and has already secured carbon removal credit deals with firms like Bain & Company. The company is currently assessing the repair timeline and will provide further updates on the operational schedule next quarter.
