100 MW Cold Creek Solar Park to Power Ford's Michigan Factories by 2027
interestingengineering.comDTE Energy has completed Cold Creek Solar Park, a 100 MW facility near Coldwater, Michigan. Ford is buying power from the project through DTE's MIGreenPower program as part of a commitment to purchase up to 650 MW of clean electricity. The goal is for every Ford vehicle built in Michigan to be produced with carbon free electricity by the end of 2027. The park also includes a 75 MW battery storage system, so solar output can be shifted to evening hours. DTE estimates the broader program can offset up to 600,000 tons of CO2 annually once fully implemented. The project is one of 36 solar parks in DTE's Michigan portfolio and part of Ford's push to reach carbon free manufacturing globally by 2035.
